The program for a Sailing Weekend.
Friday at 15.00: Gathering in frond of the boats. You will meet the skipper and you will get some first information for the boat. Going aboard you will arrange your luggage in your cabin and will get to know more about the boat. Anyone who wises will take over a responsibility as a crew member.
17.00: Departure. We will travel for approximately three hours in the direction of Limenas, distance from Kavala 16 nautical miles. During the trip the skipper is ready to talk to you about sailing, the weather at the sea, trimming the sails and discuss any item that you wish. In Pachis, half an hour before our destination, we make a short stop for swimming at the clear light blue water. In Limenas we moor the boat in the Marina and there is a free evening for dinner and night life.
Saturday. We take breakfast from 09.00 till10.00 At 10.30 we depart and we sail around the island either on the East or the West side, depending on the weather conditions. If there are not blowing strong easterly winds, we sail towards the small island Kinira, about 2.30 hours from Limenas. We sail open the East coast, where there are the beaches of Makryammos and Golden Beach and we anchor on the small isle Kinira or on the spectacular beach Paradise. We always go by sails as long as there is blowing enough wind. We spend all day in the boat, with activities such as swimming, fishing, diving, sub photographing, while a rich lunch is prepared in the kitchen of the boat. On the way back again we experience the beauty of sailing and we arrive in Limenas by the sunset. You can visit the taverns of the island for dinner or, if you wish, we can organize a barbeque on the port. Alternative route. In the case of strong Easterly winds we sail around the Northern and Western side of the island. We sail open Skala Rachoni, Skala Prinos, Skala Kallirachi, Skala Maries and we reach the Cape Kefalas. We spend all day on the boat with activities like in the previous paragraph. Then we can head and stay overnight in Limenaria. Distance 22 N.Miles.
Sunday. We take breakfast from 09.00 till10.00. At 10.30 we depart on the direction of Fidonisi, a small island which lies near the coast of Iraklitsa. Distance 23 N.Miles. We enjoy our way on sails, we spend all day in the boat with sea activities, we have lunch in the boat, until we start our way back to Kavala, distance 6 N.Miles, where we will arrive at 17.00.

***************************** TIPS FOR THE BEGINNERS *************************
(What to bring with you, what to take care, behavior in the boat)
Our aim is to give you some useful information to make you trip easier. Please never forget that sailing is an activity which demands discipline and careful organization, in order to offer us intense feelings and moments of fulfillment.
The sailing boat. The sailing boat is a boat which is moving with the cleanest energy on the planet, the wind. Nevertheless it is provided with an auxiliary motor, which allows it to move in case of windless ness as well to operate the necessary maneuvers in the harbors. Practically it is a safe boat even in very bad weather conditions, if the crew is experienced and well organized.
The skipper. This is how we call the captain of a small boat. He is responsible for sailing the boat. For the right function of the boat and the security of the crew we all follow his orders and we try to help him as much as possible. So we are learning things useful for our next sailing trips.
What to wear. Necessarily a hat (the sun is not playing any more). We need a swimming suit and we don’t forget to bring with us a towel. Wear simple and easy clothes. Useful, even for the summertime, is a light waterproof jacket. Have in mind that your clothes may be getting wet, so bring with you some extra clothes to change dry. Our shoes have to be soft, waterproof and not slippery in a wet surface, like for example tennis shoes. It is good if they have white sole, so they don’t make marks on the boat. What is strictly forbidden is cowboy’s boots, climbing shoes, high heels.
How to behave on board. For security reasons it is better to wear proper shoes when we walk on the deck, but we have to be barefoot in the cockpit and the interior of the boat. (If you wish you can wear special shoes that you will use only in the boat.) Like this we will avoid to carry in the boat and mainly where we are going to sit later, mostly wearing only the swimming suit, everything that we step on at the streets.The space in a sailing boat is limited. We arrange our personal belongings in our cabin and we try to have them organized, so that they take as less space as possible. Beware that the sailing boat is traveling often inclinated, so secure sensitive stuff like cameras from falling. We try to collaborate with the other members of the crew, so that there are no misunderstandings.We take care of the common spaces. The toilets, showers, corridors and the kitchen have to be very clean. We never throw anything in the toilet. The water in the boat is limited, so we never let it running when we take a shower, wash ourselves or brush our teeth. Beware that we never drink the water of the tanks, so use bottled water to drink. Never throw objects at the sea.
Sea sickness. There are many people who avoid the sea activities because they are suffering from sea sickness. Almost everyone in a period of his life has experienced this feeling. In the pharmacy there are simple pills that can solve a big deal of the problem. We never forget that a well organized boat is a safer boat. Try to be as orderly and discreet as possible.
